Babies are precious, aren’t they?

They mean the world to their parents. Most of us can relate to it because we’ve been on the other side. We have been those babies that parents adore and cherish.

This is the story is about babies, their parents, and a butterfly. A butterfly which signifies something!

Ever come across this sign?

Well, I hope you didn’t. Because it’s not a happy sign, it signifies a story of heartbreak and death. We bring you this story to save both you and the parents from recalling the sadness it carries with it.

It all started with Millie Smith.

Millie Smith was a pregnant mum who just got to know she would be having twins. This made her happy and scared at the same time.

Her suspicion turned into reality.

Out of her two baby girls, Callie and Skye, one was suffering from the condition of Anencephaly. Millie learned this during her pregnancy tests itself — but to give Callie a fighting chance; she continued the pregnancy.

Skye survived for a short span of time.

Three hours to be exact. No baby has ever survived Anencephaly, and hence, the grieving parents were the fateful day. But I guess one can never really be prepared for death.

But then…

Another mum of twins, not knowing of the tragedy befallen upon Millie, said to her, “Thank God you don’t have twins!”

Millie was heartbroken. She thought something should be done about it.

And she came up with an idea.

Having the butterfly logo would make people aware of the grief of the parents, and they would refrain from asking anything about it.

The Purple Butterfly!

Hence, this sticker would save the parents from unnecessary and innocent questions which would end up hurting their sentiments.

You’re wondering about Millie?

Well, she has Callie to look after and the memories of Skye. She also works at The Skye High Foundation. She is one brave soul!

The best we can do is spread the story and let more and more people know about the butterfly logos.
