The Internet can be a scary place. Sure, the access to technology has done more good to our life than bad. But then, the availability of information and ease of communication can lead to something deadly sometimes.

Cuz many people are vulnerable. And many are not even of age to understand the dangers of a situation or a challenge. Oh, you’re thinking many apps and websites have an age limit? Well, how often does your kid use your phone? Not to forget the peer pressure which leads to them getting phones way earlier than previous generations did.

Today, I want to share something gross and terrifying that you definitely need to keep away from your kids, or anyone really.

Meet Momo

As scary as it seems, this creature with the bulged out eyes and grotesque smile is the one that kids and teenagers are being challenged to talk to.

What is the challenge all about?

Remember the Blue Whale Challenge?

This is something similar. The challenge aims at targeting kids and teenagers; encouraging them to add a contact on WhatsApp. The users then start to receive a range of activities and challenges. The last challenge is to commit suicide.

Been linked to the death of a 12-year-old girl

The sick online challenge has already attracted kids from the United States, Argentina, Mexico, Germany and France. According to the latest news, in Argentina, a 12-year-old girl was found dead in her backyard after allegedly having an online conversation with Momo.

Story behind Momo (Mother Bird)

Well, it pains me to tell you that Momo was not really designed with an evil intention. It was just a sculpture made by a Japanese special effects company and was displayed at a horror art gallery.

Now, it is being used to invoke violence and terror among innocent people…

There’s a thing about dares, don’t you think? Please, please don’t give in.

I hope that you and the people around you are safe from this bullshit which can cause innocent and vulnerable people to harm themselves…
